Privacy Policy

Overview

Plaice, Inc. ("Plaice," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Plaice property intelligence platform at getplaice.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over your data.

By creating an account or using Plaice, you agree to the collection and use of information described in this policy.

Information We Collect

Account information

  • Email address and password (or OAuth provider ID if you sign in with Google)
  • Name (optional, used for professional profile display)
  • Journey preference (buyer, owner, renter, or professional) set at signup

Property data

  • Property addresses you add to your account
  • Publicly available property data we retrieve on your behalf (year built, square footage, tax records)
  • Financial data you enter voluntarily (mortgage balance, insurance premium, purchase price)

Photos and scan data

  • Photos you upload for AI inspection analysis
  • AI-generated analysis results: identified defects, fixture make/model, condition ratings, repair cost estimates
  • Anonymous preview scans submitted before account creation, associated with your account if you sign up

Payment information

  • Subscription and payment data is processed by Stripe. Plaice does not store your card number, CVV, or full payment details — only a Stripe customer ID and subscription status.

Usage data

  • Pages visited, features used, and actions taken within the app (via Google Analytics)
  • IP address associated with preview scan submissions (for rate limiting only)
  • Browser type and device type (via standard web server logs)

How We Use Your Information

  • Provide the core Plaice service: AI photo analysis, property records, maintenance tracking, and the AI Maintenance Coach
  • Generate property condition scores and proactive maintenance alerts specific to your property
  • Send transactional emails: scan results, subscription receipts, alert notifications (via Resend)
  • Process subscription payments and manage billing (via Stripe)
  • Improve the accuracy and quality of our AI models using anonymized, aggregated scan data
  • Detect and prevent abuse of the anonymous preview endpoint (rate limiting by IP)
  • Measure and analyze product usage to improve the platform (via Google Analytics)

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your photos or property data for advertising targeting.

Third-Party Services

Plaice uses the following third-party services to operate the platform:

  • Anthropic — AI analysis of property photos. Photos are transmitted to Anthropic's API and processed under Anthropic's usage policies. Anthropic does not train on API inputs by default.
  • Supabase — Database and file storage hosting for all property data, scan records, and uploaded photos. Data is stored in the United States.
  • Stripe — Payment processing for subscriptions and one-time purchases. Stripe is PCI-DSS compliant.
  • Resend — Transactional email delivery (scan results, receipts, alerts).
  • Google Analytics — Anonymized usage analytics. You can opt out via browser extensions that block Google Analytics.
  • Nominatim / OpenStreetMap — Address geocoding to determine local weather and climate context. No personal data is sent.
  • National Weather Service (api.weather.gov) — Weather forecast and alert data. No personal data is sent.

Data Retention

  • Your account data, property records, scan results, and uploaded photos are retained as long as your account is active.
  • Anonymous preview scans expire after 24 hours and are permanently deleted.
  • Proactive coach alerts expire after 7 days.
  • If you delete your account, all associated data — including property records, scan photos, and analysis results — is permanently deleted within 30 days.
  • Stripe retains billing records for legal and tax compliance purposes for a minimum of 7 years, as required by law.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
  • Correction: update or correct inaccurate account or property data
  • Deletion: request deletion of your account and all associated data
  • Portability: request an export of your property and scan data in JSON format
  • Opt-out: disable Google Analytics tracking by using a browser-level opt-out extension

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@getplaice.com. We will respond within 30 days. Account deletion can also be initiated directly from your dashboard settings.

Cookies

Plaice uses session cookies to keep you logged in (via Supabase authentication) and analytics cookies (via Google Analytics). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though this will prevent you from staying logged in.

Children's Privacy

Plaice is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at privacy@getplaice.com and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email. Continued use of Plaice after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
